AI Specialist

MSP company based in Sydney, Australia looking for hands-on AI Engineer to design, develop and deploy practical AI solutions that improve business operations and support client projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills, experience building AI agents and integrations, and the ability to turn business challenges into reliable, working solutions.

About the Role

You will work closely with management and technical teams to develop AI applications, automate workflows, build custom MCP servers and deploy cloud-based and locally hosted AI systems.

This is a practical development role requiring ownership from initial design through to deployment, testing and ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities

• AI Development: Build AI agents, assistants, bots and reusable skills to automate business processes.
• MCP & Integrations: Develop custom MCP servers and integrate AI with APIs, databases and business platforms.
• AI Platforms: Work with OpenAI/ChatGPT, Claude, Grok and other relevant AI models and APIs.
• Local AI Deployment: Configure and maintain private or offline AI systems using Ollama, llama.cpp, vLLM or similar.
• Software Development: Build Python applications, backend services, automation scripts and API integrations.
• Business Automation: Identify opportunities to improve workflows across operations, sales, customer service and administration.
• Security & Reliability: Implement appropriate access controls, testing, monitoring and documentation.
• Project Delivery: Manage solutions from concept to deployment, troubleshooting and ongoing improvement.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience developing AI applications, agents or automation solutions.
• Strong Python programming and API integration skills.
• Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and custom MCP server development.
• Knowledge of AI APIs, prompt engineering, tool calling and structured outputs.
• Experience with RAG, embeddings, vector databases and document retrieval.
• Ability to deploy and manage locally hosted AI models.
• Familiarity with Docker, Linux, Git, SQL and cloud environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Good written and spoken English.

Highly Desirable

• Experience integrating Odoo, ConnectWise, Jira or Microsoft 365.
• Workflow automation using n8n, Make or Power Automate.
• Knowledge of agent frameworks and multi-agent workflows.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, PostgreSQL or vector databases.
• Background in managed IT services or business systems integration.
