Aircon Technician

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair air conditioning units in residential, commercial, and industrial settings
• Diagnose technical faults in cooling systems using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment
• Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance on air conditioning systems to ensure optimal performance
• Recharge refrigerant systems and replace filters, compressors, and other components as needed
• Test and calibrate air conditioning systems to verify they meet operational standards
• Provide clear explanations of repair work and maintenance recommendations to clients
• Maintain detailed records of all service calls, repairs completed, and parts used
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations whilst working
• Respond promptly to emergency service calls and troubleshoot issues efficiently
• Transport tools and equipment safely to job sites and maintain the service vehicle

What we're looking for

• A recognized qualification or certification in air conditioning and refrigeration, or equivalent practical experience gained through a formal apprenticeship

• Proven experience of at least 2-3 years working as an air conditioning technician in a similar role

• Comprehensive knowledge of refrigeration cycles, compressors, evaporators, condensers, and control systems

• Proficiency in using diagnostic and testing equipment such as manifold gauges, thermometers, and multimeters

• Strong understanding of electrical systems and the ability to safely work with electrical components

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think logically when diagnosing faults

• Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach to service delivery

• Familiarity with relevant safety standards and environmental regulations pertaining to refrigerant handling

• Preferred: Experience with both window-type and split-type air conditioning systems, as well as commercial refrigeration units
