Job Summary

The AIX L3 System Administrator is responsible for expert-level administration, engineering, and support of IBM AIX and pSeries environments. This role acts as the highest technical escalation point, owning complex troubleshooting, performance tuning, migrations, virtualization, and lifecycle management while ensuring system stability, security, and availability in mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

• AIX pSeries Administration: Install, configure, administer, and maintain IBM AIX servers in enterprise environments
• Perform AIX OS administration, kernel management, and LVM management
• Manage user administration, security policies, password, and identity management
• Administer system services such as NIS, NFS, Samba, and printer services
• Virtualization Power Platform: Strong expertise in PowerVM / VIOS, HMC, and AIX virtualization
• Build and administer VIOS servers
• Manage HMC administration and upgrades (Version 9 10)
• Deep knowledge of Power8, Power9, and Power10/11 pSeries architectures
• Expert understanding of: DLPAR, LPM (Live Partition Mobility), Virtual networking, Virtual storage, SR-IOV, vNIC adapters
• Hands-on experience with NPIV and SAN-attached storage
• Build, Migration Lifecycle Management: Perform AIX server build and configuration using best practices
• Manage NIM (Network Installation Manager) for OS deployment and maintenance
• Execute OS patching, upgrades, and VIOS upgrades
• Lead and execute AIX OS migrations: 6.1, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3.
• Perform hardware refresh, storage migration, and platform migrations
• Experience in pSeries hardware commissioning and implementation
• Performance, HA DR
