Algorithm Engineer

About the Role

Our client is a fast-growing technology company specialising in intelligent matching and recommendation systems, with a platform that connects millions of users at scale. They are seeking a Senior Algorithm Engineer to develop and optimise core machine learning algorithms that directly shape user experience and drive measurable business outcomes. This is a high-impact individual contributor role sitting at the intersection of cutting-edge research and real-world product delivery — ideal for someone who thrives on turning complex data challenges into scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and optimisation of recommendation and matching algorithms, continuously improving key performance metrics across multiple product verticals

Drive algorithm-powered initiatives that enhance both user experience and commercial outcomes through data-informed experimentation

Own the end-to-end model development lifecycle, spanning data processing, feature engineering, model training, and post-deployment monitoring

Analyse product performance data to identify algorithmic gaps and design improvement strategies grounded in quantitative evidence

Research emerging deep learning methodologies and adapt state-of-the-art techniques to address real-world product and business challenges

Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including product, engineering, and data — to integrate machine learning solutions into production environments

Design and implement A/B testing frameworks to rigorously validate model improvements before full-scale rollout

Build scalable machine learning pipelines that support rapid experimentation and iterative model development

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline, with at least 2 years of hands-on algorithm development experience

Solid foundation in recommendation systems, search algorithms, or advertising optimisation, with a demonstrated track record in at least one of these domains

Strong understanding of machine learning principles; experience in causal inference, time series forecasting, multi-task learning, or reinforcement learning (is a bonus)

Proficiency in mainstream machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch, with strong programming skills in Python or equivalent languages

Experience with online learning systems and real-time algorithm deployment (is a bonus)

Professional proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is required, as this role involves regular collaboration with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders and technical teams based in China
