Alterations - Tailor/Seamstress

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Alterations Tailor to join our fashion retail team. In this role, you will be responsible for customizing, fitting, and repairing garments to meet customer specifications and ensure optimal fit and quality. The ideal candidate will possess strong sewing skills, a keen eye for detail, and excellent customer service abilities. Responsibilities

• Measure clients accurately to determine necessary alterations and adjustments
• Use sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques to modify garments according to specifications
• Repair or replace damaged or worn fabric, zippers, buttons, and seams
• Ensure garments are constructed or altered with precision, maintaining original design integrity
• Communicate effectively with customers to understand their needs and provide professional advice
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace and ensure all tools and equipment are in proper working order
• Manage multiple alteration projects efficiently while adhering to quality standards
• Collaborate with retail staff to ensure timely completion of alterations and exceptional customer service

Qualifications

• Proficiency in sewing machine operation and garment construction techniques
• Strong knowledge of sewing, fabric types, and garment fitting principles
• Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and adjustments
• Ability to work independently with attention to detail
• Familiarity with garment repair tools and sewing supplies is preferred
