Alternate Open Pit Manager

We are the proud owner and operator of our FISH Gold Mine and the expanded Sandstone district home to the region’s largest Mineral Resource inventory, in the next 10 months we have a process plant build, launching open pits and expanding our underground operations.

Brightstar Resources is seeking an experienced and driven Alternate Open Pit Manager to support the successful delivery of our open pit mining operations. Reporting to the Open Pit Mine Manager, this key leadership role will act as the second-in-command, providing operational leadership, technical expertise, and statutory coverage while driving safe, efficient, and productive mining outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong mining professional who enjoys balancing operational leadership with mine planning and continuous improvement initiatives. This position is based on a 8:6 permanent full time FIFO roster.

Key Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong technical capability in mine planning and design, with proven experience using Deswik (CAD, IS and Scheduler).
• Ability to obtain and maintain statutory appointments under WA WHS legislation, including Quarry Manager's Statutory Certificate and Site Senior Executive (SSE).
• Demonstrated experience within hard rock open pit mining operations, including drill and blast exposure.
• Experience managing mining contractors and driving safety, productivity and operational performance outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as 2IC to the Open Pit Mine Manager, assuming full operational responsibility during rostered periods and supporting strategic mine planning decisions.
• Lead the development and optimisation of short and medium-term mine plans using Deswik to maximise production, cost efficiency and pit development.
• Oversee day-to-day open pit activities including drill and blast, load and haul operations, stockpile management and contractor performance.
• Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, safety systems, environmental obligations and site procedures.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, cost control, operational efficiency and technical optimisation.
