This is your chance to help shape how Deloitte and our clients use data, automation and AI to transform tax. As a Tax Data Automation Analyst in our Tax Transformation & Technology team, you will work with Tax specialists and engineers to turn complex tax logic, client data and expected outcomes into reliable, traceable and testable solutions.
This role is ideally based in Melbourne, although we are open to Perth location and also to the candidates looking to relocate to Melbourne or Perth.
What will your typical day look like? You will work with tax specialists and engineers to understand how tax decisions should be applied to client data, then translate those requirements into executable rules, transformations and automated tests.
Your work may include:
- Working with Tax specialists to clarify requirements, exceptions and expected outcomes.
- Building and maintaining tax calculation, classification and validation rules using Python, SQL and established engineering patterns.
- Building data workflows, schemas, mappings and client configurations for ERP and finance data.
- Implementing automated data-quality, anomaly, reconciliation and regression controls using reference datasets, golden datasets and output comparisons.
- Diagnosing and resolving production issues across live Tax modules during peak delivery periods.
- Documenting rules, schemas, transformations and technical decisions for people and AI-assisted tools.
- Improving the Tax platform and rules-engine framework through reusable capabilities, templates and tooling.
- Contributing to Python tools, data services and evaluation harnesses for AI-assisted and agentic Tax workflows.
About The Team Deloitte’s Tax Transformation & Technology team builds and operates the products, platforms and engineering capabilities that are changing how tax work gets done. We believe the future of tax will be powered by data, automation and AI.
Our multidisciplinary team brings together tax specialists, rules and data engineers, software engineers, product thinkers and AI technologists to solve complex problems and turn ideas into dependable production solutions. We are modernising our shared tax platform and rules-engine while supporting a portfolio of business-critical tax modules.
You will join a collaborative engineering environment where quality, traceability and continuous learning matter as much as delivery speed.
