Job Summary

Crown Hospital – One Day Surgery is seeking a qualified and experienced Anaesthesia Technician to support the anaesthesiologist and clinical team in providing safe and efficient anaesthesia services. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing anaesthesia equipment, assisting with patient preparation, ensuring the availability of essential supplies, maintaining equipment readiness and supporting patient safety throughout pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative care.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, check and arrange anaesthesia machines, ventilators, patient monitors and related equipment before procedures.
• Assist the anaesthesiologist with the preparation of equipment and supplies required for anaesthesia administration.
• Check the availability and functionality of airway management equipment, including laryngoscopes, endotracheal tubes, masks and related accessories.
• Prepare and check oxygen delivery systems, suction equipment and emergency resuscitation equipment.
• Assist with patient preparation and positioning as directed by the anaesthesiologist and clinical team.
• Ensure the availability of anaesthesia consumables, equipment accessories and required supplies.
• Monitor equipment readiness and promptly report any malfunction or safety concern to the responsible clinician.
• Follow established infection prevention, cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation procedures for relevant equipment.
• Maintain accurate equipment checklists, maintenance records and stock documentation.
• Assist with the safe transfer of patients between the operating theatre and recovery area, as directed by the clinical team.
• Support the anaesthesiologist during surgical procedures within the technician's authorised scope of practice.
• Ensure that emergency equipment and supplies are readily available.
• Coordinate with nursing staff, surgeons, the anaesthesiologist and other clinical team members to support smooth operating theatre operations.
• Comply with hospital policies, patient confidentiality requirements, occupational safety standards and applicable DOH regulations.
• Participate in equipment audits, quality improvement activities and relevant clinical training.

Qualifications and Requirements

• A recognised qualification in Anaesthesia Technology or an equivalent qualification accepted by the applicable regulatory authority.
• A valid DOH licence or eligibility for the appropriate DOH professional licence, as applicable to the position.
• Relevant experience in anaesthesia services, preferably in a hospital, day surgery centre or operating theatre.
• Practical knowledge of anaesthesia equipment, airway management equipment and patient monitoring devices.
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control procedures and operating theatre safety standards.
• Ability to work effectively with anaesthesiologists, surgeons, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
• Good communication, teamwork, attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to respond appropriately to urgent clinical requirements within the authorised scope of practice.
• Immediate availability or the ability to join at short notice will be an advantage.

Preferred Experience

Experience in preparing and handling:

• Anaesthesia machines and ventilators.
• Multiparameter patient monitors.
• Airway management equipment and laryngoscopes.
• Oxygen delivery and suction systems.
• Anaesthesia circuits, masks and related consumables.
• Emergency resuscitation equipment.
• Equipment and supplies used in operating theatres and recovery areas.
