About the Role

Are you looking to break into the animal care industry but don't know where to start? Mills River Dog Camp is seeking enthusiastic, animal-loving individuals for our 90-Day Animal Care Internship.

This is a unique, hands-on opportunity designed to give you a foundational understanding of professional canine care. This is a temporary 90-day position, but for the right candidate, it comes with a strong potential to transition into a permanent, long-term member of our team.

Choose Your Path: Tailored Training

We don't believe in a one-size-fits-all internship. We will customize your training curriculum based on your specific interests within the animal care world. Focus areas can include:

• Canine Behavior & Body Language: Learn to read and understand dog interactions.
• Daily Operations & Facility Management: Get a behind-the-scenes look at running a top-tier camp.
• Bathing & Basic Grooming: Master the essentials of professional pup maintenance.
• Health & Safety Protocols: Learn industry-standard sanitization and canine first-aid basics.

What You'll Do

Front-facing client interaction and safe dog handling are a massive part of our daily success! A large portion of your daily routine will involve:

• Client Concierge: Warmly greeting clients and their pups as they arrive and leave.
• Valet Canine Service: Safely running dogs to and from their parents during busy drop-off and pickup times.
• Check-In Operations: Working with front desk to check-in and out our daycare clients with a friendly, organized approach.
• Camp Support: Assisting in maintaining a clean, safe, and fun environment for our campers.
• Playgroup Monitoring: Learning positive reinforcement handling techniques while assisting with dog playgroups.
• Daily Care: Helping with feeding, bathing, and general daily care routines.

What We Are Looking For

• A Positive Attitude: You are eager to learn, reliable, and a team player.
• Customer-Service Oriented: You enjoy chatting with pet parents and bringing a welcoming energy to the front desk.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to be on your feet, move around quickly, and handle dogs of various sizes (this is an active, hands-on role!).
• Flexibility: Willingness to jump in where needed, from customer service to cleanup.
