What they need
Animal Caregiver (Dog Daycare) – Silverdale
Love dogs? Good. Now prove it.
Pets In The City is not your average dog daycare. We’re a premium, purpose-driven pet care brand — and we’re on the hunt for reliable, passionate, animal-loving humans to join our team at Silverdale location. Full and part-time positions available.
We don’t just “look after dogs.”
We enrich their lives.
We create a place where tails wag faster, where pups feel safe, and where dog parents can rest easy knowing their best mate is in excellent hands.
Sound like your kind of role? Read on.
What You’ll Be Doing:
As an Animal Caregiver, you'll be a key player in our daycare crew. You’ll spend your days:
- Supervising and engaging with dogs of all breeds and sizes in structured playgroups
- Maintaining spotless, safe play spaces
- Monitoring dog behaviour and wellbeing
- Writing daily report cards that capture each dog’s day
- Supporting feeding, medication, and nap schedules
- Ensuring every dog leaves happier than they arrived
It’s active work, it’s loud work, and yes — it’s messy work. But it’s also meaningful and deeply rewarding.
Who We’re Looking For:
We’re after people who:
- Are obsessed with dogs (obviously)
- Are reliable, punctual, and able to follow direction
- Can stay calm under pressure and think on their feet
- Know the difference between play and stress in a dog group
- Take pride in doing the boring stuff well (cleaning, routines, reporting)
- Have experience in a dog daycare, kennel, vet clinic, or similar (preferred but not essential)
- Are physically fit and happy to be on their feet all day
Animal care qualifications or canine first aid certs are a bonus — but the right attitude is even better.
What Makes PITC Different:
- We’re proudly 100% force-free in everything we do. That means no intimidation, no rough handling — just trust, care, structure, and compassion.
- Our values are literally in our name: PITC – Professionalism, Integrity, Teamwork, and Continuous Improvement. These aren’t just buzzwords — they shape every decision we make.
- We believe in growing our people, with career pathways into reception, grooming, dog training, or leadership for those who want to develop.
- Oh, and yes — you get to bring your dog to work. (Let’s be honest, that’s probably why you’re still reading.)
What’s On Offer:
- A high-energy, supportive team environment
- A chance to work with dogs — every single day
- Training and development opportunities
- Uniforms provided
- Competitive hourly rate (based on experience)
This is a rostered role, including weekends, public holidays, early starts, and later finishes. You’ll need to have your own reliable transport and be legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
How to Apply:
If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and be part of something special, apply now.
