Animal Educator

• Animals and Us Academy Educator (Full-time)

The team of veterinarians and education professionals at Animals and Us Academy develops and runs programmes for children, youths and families, to provide a unique experience for our young participants to discover the wonderful animal kingdom and the natural world. Specifically, the programmes are curated to promote the messages of responsible pet ownership, conservation and sustainability, and to share more about what veterinary professionals do.

Our young participants and parents can sign up for our range of in-house curated workshops, classes and learning journeys catered for young learners from pre-school to tertiary institutions. We also support government agencies like the National Parks Board, Animal and Veterinary Service and National Library Board in co-development and delivery of programmes regarding responsible pet ownership.

By using methods such as puppetry, role-playing, games and other hands-on activities, our programmes provide the setting for children to develop a deep appreciation for animals and nature; these activities also inevitably develop confidence, articulation, scientific knowledge and empathy in our young participants.

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Educator for the following job scope and qualities:

1. To coordinate, develop and run our programmes, together with our veterinary and education team.

2. Experienced in working with children. Formal training/qualifications and teaching experience (2-3 years) in early childhood or primary school sector (2-3 years minimum) will be preferred.

3. Comfortable with handling pet animals. Further training will be provided.

4. Comfortable with delivering content in front of large groups of children, youth, teachers and the public (e.g. school assembly talks)

5. Willing to travel to different locations in Singapore with teaching logistics and live animals for delivery of programmes. Ability to drive will be preferred.

6. Possess at least basic skills in managing social media account and marketing tools, in particular Facebook, Instagram and Mailchimp.

7.Comfortable with website creation and maintenance especially for Wix platform.

8. Coordinate with customers, including teachers, parents and government agencies on programme bookings and administrative work.

9. Development of educational materials and teaching aids.

10. Mentoring and training volunteers, part-timers, junior staff to prepare for and deliver programmes professionally and effectively.

11. Independent worker and good team player.
