Annealer – Skana Aluminum
Be Part of the Process. Build Your Skills. Keep Aluminum Moving!
Hours: 5:45pm- 6am on a 2-2-3 rotation, May have to train on day shifts.
Position Summary
At Skana Aluminum, our team turns aluminum into high-quality products our customers depend on—and our Annealers play an important role in making that happen! As an Annealer, you'll operate and monitor industrial furnaces to heat-treat aluminum coils, helping ensure the right quality, strength, and workability for the next stage of production.
This is a hands-on manufacturing role where you'll operate forklifts, manage furnace settings, monitor temperatures, and oversee the heat-treatment process from start to finish. You'll work alongside a team that values safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement while building your skills and learning more about our manufacturing operations. If you enjoy working with equipment, following a process, and seeing the results of your work, this could be a great fit for you!
What You'll Do
- Keep Production Moving: Review shop orders and organize aluminum coils into furnace loads based on alloy, temper, recipe requirements, and load weight.
- Operate Equipment: Safely use a forklift to load and unload furnace cars and transport coils throughout the annealing and cooling process.
- Take Control of the Process: Set furnace temperatures, install thermal couplers, prepare loads, and start furnaces according to established work instructions.
- Monitor and Maintain Quality: Track furnace temperatures, monitor soak times, and document process information to ensure aluminum meets quality specifications.
- Manage the Full Cycle: Remove completed loads from the furnace and transport coils to designated cooling areas using a forklift.
- Keep Accurate Records: Complete required production paperwork and reports to maintain accurate process documentation.
- Work Safely and Consistently: Follow work instructions, safety procedures, and the company's quality management system requirements.
- Be a Team Player: Communicate with teammates and leadership to support production goals and address potential issues.
- Grow Your Skills: Cross-train in other production areas, including the rolling mill, and provide coverage when needed.
- Make a Difference: Share ideas, support continuous improvement initiatives, and help make our processes safer, more efficient, and more effective.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
