AOI Engineer

An established international electronics manufacturer is seeking an experienced Equipment Engineer (AOI) to support high-volume automotive electronics production. This role will play a key part in enhancing inspection performance, driving yield improvement initiatives, and supporting continuous process optimization within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What You'll Be Doing

• Develop, maintain, and optimize AOI inspection programs and recipes.
• Fine-tune AOI parameters to improve detection accuracy while minimizing false rejects.
• Monitor and improve First Pass Yield (FPY) and inspection effectiveness.
• Analyze defect trends and production data to identify process improvement opportunities.
• Investigate recurring defects and collaborate with manufacturing teams on corrective actions.
• Utilize SPC and quality tools to monitor process stability and performance.
• Support production teams in troubleshooting AOI and inspection-related issues.
• Work cross-functionally with Process Engineering, Quality, Production, and Maintenance teams.
• Drive continuous improvement projects focused on quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
• Provide technical guidance and training to technicians and operators.
• Support introduction of new products and process validation activities.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• 3-5 years of engineering experience within electronics manufacturing, EMS, PCB assembly, or SMT environments.
• Experience with AOI programming, optimization, and troubleshooting.

Technical Knowledge

• Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems.
• Statistical Process Control (SPC).
• Root Cause Analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
• Quality improvement tools (7QC Tools, Pareto, Fishbone, 5 Why, etc.).
• Process control and yield improvement techniques.
• Knowledge of FMEA, Control Plan, and OCAP is advantageous.
• Exposure to ICT, Flying Probe, SMT, or electronic assembly processes would be beneficial.
