AP/AR Specialist

Hoosac Valley Farmers Exchange is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented professional to join our team as an AP/AR Specialist. This position is an important part of our day-to-day accounting operations and will work closely with customers, vendors, and internal staff to ensure accurate and timely financial transactions.

Responsibilities

• Process and maintain accounts payable invoices and vendor payments
• Post and reconcile accounts receivable transactions
• Prepare customer statements
• Receive and accurately post customer payments
• Follow up on outstanding customer balances and assist with collections
• Reconcile vendor statements and customer accounts
• Maintain accurate and organized accounting records
• Assist with bank and account reconciliations
• Verify invoices, purchase orders, receipts, and supporting documentation
• Respond professionally to customer and vendor inquiries regarding accounts
• Assist with month-end closing and other accounting tasks as needed
• Prepare monthly sales tax information
• Handle HUT/Truck dues
• Perform daily journal entries
• Maintain confidentiality of financial and customer information
• Perform other administrative and accounting duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or general accounting experience is required
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good organizational and time-management skills
• Comfortable working with numbers and financial records
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Ability to learn and work effectively with accounting software, specifically Quickbooks Online.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills
• Ability to work independently while also being a dependable member of a team
• Agricultural, farm-supply, or retail business experience is a plus
