Job Title: QA API Automation Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled QA API Automation Engineer with strong hands-on experience in API test automation, programming, and automation framework development. The ideal candidate should be proficient in automating REST APIs, validating responses, handling authentication, and developing reusable automation scripts. Experience in UI automation using Selenium is an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated API test scripts for RESTful services.
• Build and enhance reusable API automation frameworks using REST Assured, Karate, or similar tools.
• Perform end-to-end API testing, including positive, negative, boundary, and integration scenarios.
• Validate HTTP status codes, headers, response bodies, JSON schemas, and business logic.
• Implement API authentication and authorization testing, including tokens and dynamic test data.
• Write clean, reusable, and maintainable automation code using Java or Python.
• Execute automated test suites, analyze failures, troubleshoot defects, and report results.
• Integrate API automation suites into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar tools.
• Use Postman and Newman for API testing and automated collection execution where applicable.
• Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and business teams to ensure application quality.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in API test automation.
• Experience with REST Assured using Java, Karate, or a comparable API automation framework.
• Good programming skills in Java or Python.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, status codes, headers, JSON/XML, and request/response validation.
• Experience developing and maintaining API automation frameworks.
• Knowledge of authentication mechanisms, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, and API tokens.
• Experience with assertions, reusable methods, test data management, and debugging automation failures.
• Hands-on experience with Postman and/or Newman.

Preferred Skills

• Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, JUnit, or Cucumber.
• SQL and database validation.
• Jenkins, Git, Maven, Gradle, or other CI/CD and build tools.
• Experience testing microservices and integrating API automation into end-to-end test suites.
