Responsibilities

  • Design and architect enterprise API management solutions using IBM API Connect.
  • Define scalable, secure, and highly available API platform architectures.
  • Design and govern the full API lifecycle, including design, development, deployment, versioning, monitoring, and retirement.
  • Establish enterprise API standards, design guidelines, naming conventions, and reusable patterns.
  • Design and implement API security policies, including authentication, authorization, rate limiting, throttling, and access controls.
  • Configure and govern API Gateway policies and security mechanisms.
  • Design API integrations with internal applications, external systems, and third-party services.
  • Define API architecture patterns aligned with enterprise integration and technology standards.
  • Establish API governance frameworks, standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Review API designs and ensure compliance with architecture and governance standards.
  • Partner with enterprise and solution architects to align API solutions with broader enterprise architecture.
  • Collaborate with application development, integration, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and DevOps teams.
  • Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable API and integration architectures.
  • Design API security using standards such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, and related protocols.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10–12 years of experience in API management and integration architecture, including work in large enterprise integration environments.
  • Hands-on experience with IBM API Connect, including designing enterprise API management solutions and configuring API Gateway policies.
  • Strong background designing REST APIs, working with SOAP web services, and supporting microservices integration.
  • Experience connecting APIs with databases, applications, middleware, and external systems across enterprise backend integrations.
  • Experience modernizing integration landscapes, including exposing legacy services through modern APIs.
  • Solid understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, JSON, and XML.
  • Hands-on experience implementing API security controls, including authentication, authorization, rate limiting, throttling, routing, and related security policies.
  • Experience designing secure API architectures using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, TLS/SSL, and mTLS.
  • Experience integrating API platforms with enterprise IAM solutions or identity providers.
  • Background in Banking or FinTech environments, with experience designing API security architectures and controls to protect against common API threats.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise API governance frameworks, including API design standards, naming conventions, documentation, versioning, and reusable API patterns.
  • Experience governing the API lifecycle from design and approval through deployment, monitoring, versioning, and retirement.
  • Experience conducting formal API architecture and design reviews and working through cross-functional API approval and governance processes.
