Job Title: API Test Engineer / API Automation Tester

Experience: 4 -10 Years

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced API Test Engineer with strong expertise in API functional and automation testing. The candidate should have hands-on experience designing test cases, validating REST/SOAP services, automating API tests, and ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of backend services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute API test cases and test scenarios.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end API testing.
• Validate RESTful and SOAP web services.
• Develop and maintain API automation frameworks.
• Create and execute automated test scripts using Postman, Rest Assured, Karate, or similar tools.
• Verify request/response payloads, status codes, headers, and database validations.
• Identify, log, track, and verify defects using JIRA/Azure DevOps.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and QA teams to understand requirements.
• Integrate API automation suites into CI/CD pipelines.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum activities and contribute to continuous quality improvement.

Required Skills

• Strong experience in API Testing.
• Hands-on experience with REST and SOAP APIs.
• Proficiency in tools such as Postman, Swagger, SoapUI, Rest Assured, or Karate Framework.
• Experience in automation using Java/Python.
• Good knowledge of JSON, XML, and API authentication methods (OAuth, JWT, Basic Authentication).
• Experience with database validation using SQL.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions.
• Experience with defect-tracking tools like JIRA.
• Understanding of Agile development methodologies.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in Microservices testing.
• Performance testing using JMeter or LoadRunner.
• Cloud platform exposure (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with contract testing tools such as Pact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• Relevant experience in API Testing and Automation.
