Apigee Engineer

A global leader in the food and beverage industry, and one of the most recognized brands in the world, is looking for an Apigee Developer/Administrator to own the health, security, and evolution of its enterprise API platform. This hybrid role combines hands-on API development with platform administration. You’ll support Apigee and Apigee Hybrid running on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and AWS, build and deploy API policies, and automate the build, patching, and monitoring that keep the platform reliable at enterprise scale. You’ll also act as a technical voice that connects platform decisions to business needs.

What You’ll Do

• Provide technical leadership on Apigee and Apigee Hybrid deployments across AKS and AWS, linking technical and business requirements.
• Maintain the health, performance, and efficiency of the API platform and its supporting application infrastructure.
• Automate platform builds, patching, and vulnerability remediation, and support change management, incident management, and monitoring.
• Develop, deploy, and support API proxies and policies on the Apigee platform, using CI/CD pipelines to promote proxies across environments.
• Support and manage APIs and microservices built with Java and Spring Boot.
• Design, organize, and implement API support processes and operational standards.
• Support the Apigee Developer Portal, including its Drupal integration.
• Manage cloud security and certificates across the platform.
• Work with peers, technology partners, and vendors to identify issues, roll out patches, and resolve problems.
• Build long-range plans that address root causes and prevent recurring issues.
• Oversee daily operational risk and controls, including policies, procedures, and work standards.

What You Bring

• Hands-on experience with the Apigee API Management platform, including OAuth administration and JWT.
• Experience creating, organizing, and implementing API support processes.
• 5+ years supporting enterprise application platforms.
• 5+ years of Java development, or scripting and automation with Python, Shell, or similar languages.
• 3+ years of Red Hat Linux or UNIX experience.
• Kubernetes experience with containerized implementations.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for deploying API proxies across environments.
• Excellent communication skills and comfort working with technical teams, partners, and vendors.

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting API policies on Apigee Hybrid running on Azure or AWS.
• Working knowledge of OpenAPI Specifications (JSON/YAML), including JWT-based authorization.
• A solid understanding of OAuth 2.0 authentication and authorization for services.
• Experience supporting REST APIs and microservices built with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience making Apigee Management API calls with Postman.
• Familiarity with AppDynamics, Splunk, and Kafka.
