Position Overview:

To own the reliability of Customer’s Apigee platform (BC1) end to end. Leads major incidents and is the technical counterpart to Customer’s API platform owner.

Required Skills:

• 8+ years in integration/API, including 4+ years hands-on with Apigee (X or hybrid preferred; Edge acceptable)
• Deep knowledge of Apigee policies: OAuth 2.0/OIDC, JWT, VerifyAPIKey, SpikeArrest, Quota, mTLS, JavaScript/Java callouts
• Proxy CI/CD: apigeelint, Apigee Maven deploy plugin / apigeecli, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps
• GCP basics: IAM, VPC/PSC networking, Cloud Logging and Monitoring
• Has led production incidents on business-critical (BC1/Tier-1) platforms

Good to Have

• Apigee certification (Google Cloud Certified – API Design / Apigee Engineer), Kafka/event APIs, SwaggerHub/OpenAPI governance, ServiceNow ITSM

Key Responsibilities:

• Owns L3 for Apigee: proxies, shared flows, policies, environments, target servers, key-value maps (KVMs), certificates and keystores
• Leads P1/P2 incidents and the major-incident bridge, and writes the RCA and permanent fix
• Owns production change for Apigee: CAB submissions, deployment plans, rollback, change freezes
• Plans capacity, quotas and rate limits, and handles performance tuning and analytics reviews
• Plans upgrades and deprecations (Apigee X/hybrid versions, runtime upgrades, Edge end-of-life if relevant)
• Defines proxy standards, security policies and CI/CD guardrails, and reviews proxies submitted through the API Marketplace
• Runs KT from the incumbent, owns the runbooks, and mentors the L3 engineers
• Escalates to Google support and manages cases

Location: Plano, TX (Onsite - Work from Office ) North America

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Equivalent work experience may be considered in place of formal education.
