What they need

APM Facility Manager

Australian Premium Macadamias | Bucca, near Bundaberg QLD

About the Role

At Australian Premium Macadamias (APM) you do meaningful work in a high-performing macadamia business that embraces modern farming practices and technology. You work with supportive teams and managers who treat people with respect and are always asking “how can we do this better?”

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Facility Manager to lead our shed operations at Bucca, near Bundaberg. This is a key leadership role responsible for the full end-to-end operation of our processing facility — from Nut-in-Shell (NIS) receival through curing and drying, sorting, bagging, storage and dispatch. You will lead the entire shed team, drive operational performance, maintain high product quality and ensure safe, efficient and reliable operations that meet production and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all day-to-day shed activities, resources and workflows from NIS receival to dispatch
  • Manage curing room loading, operation, monitoring and unloading to optimise drying performance and product quality
  • Oversee safe and effective operation of all machinery and equipment (receival systems, curing equipment, conveyors, colour and x-ray sorters, bagging lines)
  • Take responsibility for plant, equipment and facility maintenance — plan preventive maintenance, coordinate repairs and minimise downtime
  • Lead the shed team through the Lab Supervisor and Floor Supervisor, including rostering, training, performance management and shift handovers
  • Develop and monitor production and quality schedules aligned with capacity, labour, stock condition and customer specifications
  • Oversee laboratory sampling, testing and quality records, ensuring out-of-specification product is identified and managed
  • Set and track production and quality KPIs, investigate variances and drive continuous improvement
  • Oversee accurate, timely and traceable dispatch of product
  • Work closely with the Logistics and Production Coordinator to align schedules and priorities
  • Contribute to capital upgrade planning, equipment selection, commissioning and staff training
  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with WHS requirements

About You

You will bring:

  • Experience in a high-volume processing or packing facility (food, horticulture or agricultural processing preferred)
  • Proven people leadership skills — coaching, mentoring and managing small to medium teams
  • Experience with processing machinery, equipment maintenance and automation
  • Knowledge of food safety, quality systems and Work Health & Safety
  • Ideally, experience managing curing/drying operations and moisture/quality control
  • Strong planning and organisational skills — able to manage rosters, production schedules and maintenance plans
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach with a genuine commitment to continuous improvement
  • Current unencumbered Class C Drivers Licence
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, operations, agriculture or a related field (desirable but not essential)

Why Join Us?

  • A culture of teamwork, safety, practical innovation and continuous improvement
  • The chance to contribute ideas and help shape how we work
  • Staff BBQs and morning teas
  • Footy Tipping competition
  • Shout Outs (gift cards) to recognise high performers
  • Annual performance and remuneration reviews
  • Opportunities to learn new skills and progress (machinery, farm operations, leadership, and modern technology)
  • Long-term job security with varied, hands-on work that has real impact
