Application and Technical Support Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on Technical Support Engineer specializing in Industrial Machine Vision Systems and Sensors to join our team in Batam. In this role, you will provide critical technical expertise, troubleshooting, commissioning, and pre/post-sales support to our key manufacturing clients across Batam’s electronics, semiconductor, medical device, and automotive assembly industries. You will act as the technical bridge between our product technology and client automation requirements on the factory floor.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Support & Field Troubleshooting

• Provide on-site and remote technical support to resolve complex hardware, software, and optics issues related to our products
• Conduct field visits for system diagnostics, installation support, and fine-tuning.
• Analyze root causes of defect detection errors, false rejects, or signal failures on live production lines to minimize customer downtime.

Pre-Sales & Application Engineering

• Collaborate with the sales team to evaluate customer automation requirements, perform feasibility studies, and conduct Proof of Concept (POC) evaluations.
• Select, test, and demonstrate appropriate vision lighting, lenses, camera resolutions, and sensor technologies based on client product specifications.
• Assist in writing technical proposals, application reports, and system configuration guides.

Commissioning & System Integration

• Assist system integrators and end-users in integrating vision cameras and sensors with PLCs, industrial PCs, robotics, and SCADA systems.
• Configure industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP, RS-232/485) for seamless data transfer between sensors/cameras and factory controllers.

Training & Documentation

• Prepare and deliver technical training sessions for client engineers, operators, and local channel partners.
• Maintain clear service logs, customer ticket records, and escalation reports for internal engineering teams.
