About Us

Founded in Munich, Germany in 1989, Brainlab employs over 2200 dedicated and inspiring people from 85 countries at 25 locations worldwide. We develop, manufacture and market software-driven medical technology to support precision in image-guided surgery and radiotherapy. Our systems are used in thousands of hospitals worldwide, enabling access to improved, more efficient, and less invasive patient treatments.

About the Role

Reporting to the local Area Account Manager, this role blends technical expertise with clinical support. You will play a key role in educating and training hospital staff on the use of Brainlab systems, while also applying your biomedical engineering knowledge to troubleshoot, maintain, and optimise our medical devices.

The position will be home-based in Melbourne, working closely with the local team in major hospitals across metro Melbourne. Duties will primarily occur during normal business hours, with occasional after-hours or weekend support when required.

This is a maternity leave position on 12 months contract, with potential for future employment beyond 12 month term to be determined at end of contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site and remote clinical support for Brainlab Image Guided Surgery products during surgical procedures across multiple disciplines, including Neurosurgery and Spinal Surgery.
  • Apply biomedical engineering knowledge to analyse, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues, including preventative maintenance, hardware repairs, and system calibration.
  • Train and educate hospital personnel (surgeons, nurses, radiographers, biomedical engineers, IT staff) on the use and maintenance of Brainlab systems.
  • Assist radiology departments in pre-operative scanning procedures.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clinical stakeholders.
  • Coordinate system installations, software updates, system upgrades, and documentation in accordance with Brainlab procedures.
  • Participate in international training programs, including a structured training period in Munich, Germany.
  • Support broader team initiatives including product demonstrations, customer feedback, and service contract renewals.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Biomedical Engineering preferred
  • Strong technical problem-solving ability, with experience in troubleshooting, repairing, or maintaining complex systems (medical devices or related equipment highly regarded).
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in high-pressure surgical environments
  • Self-motivated and capable of working autonomously from a home-based office
  • Strong attention to detail, professionalism, and a commitment to patient outcomes
  • Must hold a current Driver's License and be able to obtain a Police Check and Working with Children Check.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work after hours and travel interstate and internationally as required
  • Previous experience in hospital or clinical settings is advantageous, but not essential
  • Must have current Australian work authorisation rights

What We Offer

  • Annual performance bonus
  • Car allowance + fuel card
  • A dynamic, flexible hybrid work environment
  • Comprehensive training and career development opportunities
  • International travel, including training at Brainlab headquarters in Munich
  • A clear pathway into sales, marketing, or support management roles within the company
  • The chance to contribute meaningfully to surgical innovation and patient care
