What they need
Application Developer I, to work for Dee Electronics Manufacturing & Distribution, a highly successful Industrial Value-Added Distributor and Electronics/Electromechanical Contract Manufacturer, serving Original Equipment Manufacturers since 1959.
We are looking for an Application Developer I to help maintain and improve ECIS, our internally developed ERP system used across multiple manufacturing and distribution businesses. You will share responsibility for time-sensitive application requests, make changes to our existing system, and build defined new features in .NET.
ECIS evolves every day. Across the team, we may make 20 or more changes on a given day. You should be comfortable understanding a request, making a sound change promptly, testing it, and writing code that will be easy to update as business needs change.
This is a hands-on development position. We will provide direction on business rules, data sources, and the scope of unfamiliar projects. We expect you to independently deliver welldefined changes and speak up when a request has effects beyond its original scope.
What you’ll do
- Share coverage of the ECIS development request queue, including time-sensitive fixes and routine changes.
- Read, troubleshoot, and modify existing Classic ASP pages.
- Build defined .NET screens using supplied requirements, table information, and SQL queries.
- Add practical features such as input validation, searching, sorting, clear results, and useful error messages.
- Write and troubleshoot SQL Server queries with guidance on the underlying business processes.
- Create and update labels, and transfer existing labels into our established printing automation system.
- Move existing emailed reports into a new distribution system.
- Make changes to existing pages, permissions, reports, and email routing.
- Test your work, explain what changed, and leave code that another developer can readily maintain.
- Participate in team discussions and suggest improvements to the features you build
What you’ll need
- Hands-on .NET experience. Given a defined requirement and the necessary SQL queries, you can independently build a functional database-backed page.
- Working knowledge of SQL Server, including queries, joins, and troubleshooting unexpected results.
- Ability to read and troubleshoot Classic ASP, or experience maintaining a similar older application and the willingness to become productive in Classic ASP quickly.
- Experience validating user input and handling errors in web applications.
- Ability to shift between planned development and urgent requests while keeping work accurate and maintainable.
- Clear communication with teammates and the employees who use your work.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Helpful experience
- Direct experience with Classic ASP.
- Manufacturing, distribution, ERP, or other internal business applications. Label design or printing systems.
- Automated reports, email workflows, or Microsoft Access applications.
A college degree is welcome but not required. We value demonstrated ability, sound judgment, and a willingness to learn how the business works.
This is a remote position will some travel to on-site facilities when needed.
You will need a dedicated office space at home to work from and access to strong internet.
