Application Engineer

Responsibilities

1. Customer Project Management

• Act as the primary Application interface for new/change projects with Korean OEMs (Hyundai Motor, Kia, etc.)
• Receive and review customer requirements/specifications, and communicate them to internal Design, Test, and Quality teams
• Manage project schedules and milestones per APQP stages, from kickoff through mass-production approval
• Prepare for and respond to customer Gate Reviews, Design Reviews, and Milestone Meetings

2. Vehicle Application & Fitting Verification

• Review vehicle package layout and verify fitting/applicability of wiper systems
• Analyze spec differences across vehicle models and align on Spec-in with the Design team
• Attend customer vehicle tests and respond to results
• Address customer-facing performance issues such as wiping pattern and NVH (noise/vibration)

3. RFQ & Spec Response

• Receive customer RFQs and review technical specifications
• Support quotation response and proposal preparation in collaboration with Cost, Design, and Test teams
• Manage customer spec change requests (ECR/ECN) and internal implementation process

4. Customer Communication & Technical Coordination

• Coordinate and facilitate technical communication between the Korean customer and the (Chinese/overseas) manufacturing plant and Design/Development teams
• Prepare for and support customer visits, technical meetings, and video conferences
• Cascade customer requirements and issues internally, and track and report response status

5. Quality & Mass-Production Issue Support

• Support root-cause analysis from an Application perspective when customer claims or field issues occur
• Collaborate with Design, Test, and Quality teams to establish countermeasures and support customer responses (e.g., 8D reports)
• Prepare and submit customer approval documents such as ISIR

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field
• Experience as an Application Engineer, Technical Sales, or Project Manager in the automotive parts industry (wiper, motor, or mechanical/electrical components)
• Understanding of automotive part development processes (APQP, PPAP, etc.)
• Experience communicating with and responding to OEM customers on projects

Preferred

• Application experience related to wiper systems, automotive motors, or mechanism components
• Experience working on projects with Korean OEMs such as Hyundai Motor / Kia
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (CATIA, etc.)
• Experience collaborating with manufacturing plants or business sites in China or overseas
• Proficiency in English and/or Chinese

Skills & Competencies

• Understanding and hands-on experience with OEM customer processes (APQP, RFQ, ECR, etc.)
• Ability to review vehicle package/specifications and assess applicability
• Cross-functional collaboration and coordination with Design, Test, and Quality teams
• Communication skills to technically interpret customer requirements and convey them internally
• Project schedule management and issue tracking
• Problem-solving mindset and execution capability

Additional Preferences

• Experience in Application/Technical Sales roles on Hyundai Motor / Kia projects
• Experience with wiper systems, automotive motors, or automotive mechanism components
• Experience with Korean OEM quality/design approval processes (e.g., ISIR)
• Proficiency in Chinese
• Experience responding to customer audits or customer meetings
