Application Engineer: Commercial Refrigeration

Location: West Coast, USA

Travel: Approximately 20–40% overnight travel

The Opportunity

We are currently supporting a leading global provider of high-efficiency HVAC/R and natural refrigerant solutions with the appointment of an Application Specialist on the West Coast of the USA.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this position will work closely with Sales, Field Services and other technical specialists to support the deployment of high-efficiency and natural refrigeration solutions, primarily across the food retail market .

This is a hands-on, customer-facing role combining technical application support, project coordination, field service, training and solution optimisation . The successful candidate will work closely with OEMs, contractors, engineering consultants, integrators and end users to ensure solutions are correctly selected, implemented and performing effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with OEMs, contractors, engineering consultants, integrators and end users to support the adoption and deployment of high-efficiency refrigeration and control solutions.
• Review blueprints, project plans and technical documentation to support solution selection, quotations and submittals.
• Work alongside the Sales team to coordinate customer projects from initial solution selection through implementation, commissioning and performance monitoring.
• Visit customer and end-user sites to support contractors with installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
• Perform energy efficiency and system performance analysis, fine-tuning and preventative maintenance on live installations.
• Support the implementation of refrigeration controls and other technical solutions across food retail applications.
• Participate in start-ups and assist with the optimisation and fine-tuning of installations.
• Develop and deliver technical training, seminars and presentations for OEMs, contractors, end users and other key customers.
• Work closely with internal technical and product teams to ensure customers receive a reliable and effective solution.
• Gather feedback from customers and the market to support the ongoing development of products, solutions, technical documentation and customer experience.
• Build strong relationships with customers and become a trusted technical resource for their engineering and field teams.

Background & Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

• An engineering or technology degree, ideally with an HVAC/R background , or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience within commercial refrigeration , HVAC/R controls or high-efficiency refrigeration applications.
• Practical field experience supporting the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting or optimisation of HVAC/R systems.
• Knowledge of electrical circuits, electronics and mechanical systems relevant to HVAC/R applications.
• Experience working with contractors, OEMs, consultants and/or end users.
• Strong technical communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to different audiences.
• A self-motivated, hands-on approach and the ability to work independently in a customer-facing environment.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple customer projects and priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills would be advantageous.
