YOUR ROLE

As Application Engineer Coating & Coated Packaging – EMEA, you will play a key role in supporting the growth of BTG's coating business across the EMEA region. Reporting to the Head of Coating & Coated Packaging EMEA, you will work closely with Account Managers, technical experts, and the wider sales organization to provide technical support during customer trials, troubleshoot operational challenges, develop customer-specific solutions, and contribute to business growth.

The position combines technical problem-solving, customer engagement, project management, and business support in a highly international environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the sales organization during customer trials and technical evaluations.
• Assist in selecting the most suitable BTG products and solutions for customer applications.
• Provide troubleshooting support and technical recommendations when required.
• Develop customer-specific solutions in collaboration with Account Managers and internal experts.
• Identify opportunities for additional BTG products and services and communicate these to the sales team.
• Support and train Account Managers on BTG products, applications, and best practices.
• Provide technical expertise related to BTG's coating and coated packaging solutions.
• Support business proposals, customer presentations, sales strategies, and commercial initiatives.
• Document and communicate customer results, including economic benefits and performance improvements.
• Share application knowledge and project learnings across the organization.
• Participate in regular technical and commercial meetings within BTG.
• Work closely with BTG facilities and development teams to address product-related challenges and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with BTG policies, including Safety, Code of Conduct, Commercial Policy, Security Policy, and Export Compliance requirements.
• Take responsibility for personal safety and contribute to a safe working environment for colleagues and customers.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education & Experience

• Degree or equivalent qualification in chemical- mechanical or paper engineering or paper science
• Other scientific disciplines may be considered when combined with relevant paper industry experience.
• Experience from the paper industry or paper machinery industry is highly valued.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

• Strong technical interest and ability to translate customer challenges into practical solutions.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Additional European language skills are considered a strong advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• A proactive and self-driven approach with a strong willingness to learn and develop.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and adapt quickly to changing customer needs.
• Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills.

TRAVEL

This is a highly customer-focused role requiring approximately 70% travel throughout the year . Most travel will take place within the EMEA region, particularly Southern Europe, but occasional assignments may also involve Central Europe, the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa. Weekend travel may occasionally be required.
