Application Engineer - Costing & Proposal Estimation

Role & responsibilities

Responsible for analysing customer requirements, preparing cost estimates, developing techno-commercial proposals, and supporting pre-sales activities for automation and engineering projects. The role involves close coordination with Sales, Engineering, Procurement, and Project teams to deliver competitive and accurate quotations.

Review customer RFQs/RFPs and technical specifications.

• Prepare detailed project cost estimates, budgets, and pricing models.
• Develop techno-commercial proposals and quotations.
• Perform BOM analysis, material costing, labour costing, and margin calculations.
• Coordinate with Design, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Sales teams for inputs.
• Prepare scope of supply, assumptions, and commercial terms.
• Support tender submissions and bid management activities.
• Conduct cost optimization and value engineering exercises.
• Maintain proposal, costing, and quotation databases.
• Participate in customer discussions and technical clarification meetings.
• Ensure proposal accuracy, profitability, and timely submission.
