Application Engineer - Electron Microscopy

As an Application Specialist, you will work closely with development, engineering, software, and application teams to support the development and validation of advanced scientific instruments. You will help define and verify system requirements, evaluate new functionalities, and contribute to the testing of both hardware and software solutions. The role combines technical expertise with collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, requiring strong communication skills and the ability to present technical information clearly to different audiences.

Responsibilities

• Conduct testing and evaluation of software, applications, and instruments, including preparing test plans and reports
• Turn customer requirements into practical technical solutions and specifications
• Advise customers on the best technical approaches and product applications
• Prepare and deliver product demonstrations, customer projects, and training sessions
• Manage customer samples, data, and related information
• Create technical documentation to support solution deployment and customer training
• Develop technical content and materials for marketing and sales activities
• Support the implementation of new solutions at customer sites and assist field application engineers during handover and adoption
• On-site presence is required for this role. After the probation period, employees may work from home one day per week

Qualifications & Skills

• Master's degree or PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• Practical experience working with FIB/SEM technologies, including techniques such as high-resolution imaging, TEM lamella preparation, EDX, and EBSD
• Capability to prepare scientific publications, technical papers, and related documentation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Good knowledge of English and motivation to learn Czech
• Programming skills are considered an advantage
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally
• Results-driven mindset with the ability to perform effectively under pressure
• Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional and international teams
