Application Server Consultant

About the Role

HCLTech is seeking an experienced Application Server Consultant to join our Support & Operations team. This role is responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of enterprise application server environments supporting global customers.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in IBM WebSphere Application Server, Oracle WebLogic Server, and JBoss Application Server , along with strong troubleshooting, stakeholder management, and operational support experience in large-scale enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert-level support and administration for IBM WebSphere, Oracle WebLogic, and JBoss Application Server environments.
• Lead the resolution of critical incidents and escalations while ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex application server and middleware-related issues.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and trend analysis, and provide recommendations for service improvement.
• Validate and review implementation plans for infrastructure and application changes.
• Support incident, problem, and change management processes in line with ITIL best practices.
• Participate in capacity planning, performance tuning, and infrastructure optimization initiatives.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, knowledge articles, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Mentor administrators and junior team members, promoting technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, business stakeholders, and customers to ensure effective service delivery.
• Participate in customer discussions, service reviews, and technical presentations as required.
• Identify operational risks and proactively implement preventive measures to improve service stability.

Required Technical Skills

• Extensive hands-on experience with: IBM WebSphere Application Server, Oracle WebLogic Server, JBoss Application Server.
• Strong expertise in application server administration, configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Experience managing complex production environments and mission-critical applications.
• Strong understanding of incident, problem, and change management processes.
• Working knowledge of ITIL frameworks and operational best practices.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure and middleware issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in application server administration and enterprise support operations.
• Relevant middleware, application server, or IT service management certifications will be an added advantage.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management capabilities.

• Exposure to cloud platforms and cloud-based application deployments.
• Experience working in global delivery and support environments.
• Strong documentation and process governance skills.
