Application Specialist (material science)/Application Engineer

Role & responsibilities

Responsible for the sales and support of a select group of High-End Research Microscopes Systems as defined by MIS Management.

• Working closely with the general sales team in High-end system leads generation.
• Research and build relationships with new customers.
• Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
• Achieving defined sales target in High-end research microscope system.
• Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the companys unique selling propositions and differentiators.
• Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the companys CRM or other sales management system. Track and record activity on accounts
• KPI and Scorecard will be set yearly from the key responsibility above

Execute formal training program in conjunction with Sales Managers for the Sales team to ensure adequate knowledge of high-end research microscope products is achieved

• Support technical enquiries from customers when required
• Be first point of call for all enquiries from service department includingwarranty regarding high end research products.
• Applies significant knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service for our customers
• Gather data on competitor products and activities
• Build and continue relationships with key accounts in conjunction with Sales and sales managers.
• Manage activities within budget and planned schedule
• Working with Sales managers and sales specialist and lead the process in high products related tenders
• Prepare materials for new product launches including file creation, literature, presentations, target industry listings, advertising, and promotions

Preferred candidate profile

Bachelors degree or higher in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical/scientific discipline

• PhD in a relevant scientific or engineering field is highly regarded, but not mandatory
• Candidates with a strong engineering or technical background and relevant hands-on experience in Material Science applications will also be considered
• Hands-on experience in Material Science, microscopy, imaging, surface analysis, semiconductor, electronics, or related industrial applications
• Experience in an Application Specialist, Field Application Scientist/Engineer, Technical Support, Product Specialist, or similar customer-facing technical role is preferred
• Experience in delivering product demonstrations, technical training, application support, and customer presentations
• Strong ability to understand customer applications and translate technical requirements into appropriate solutions
• Good communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, sales teams, and cross-functional stakeholders
• Willingness to travel as required across the assigned territory

Experience

• 1 to 5 years Experience in high end research microscopy systems and applications.
