Application Tech Lead

About The Role We are looking for an Application Tech Lead for a consulting assignment within automotive software development.

You will lead the technical delivery of application-layer software across connectivity, ADAS and perception, HMI and infotainment, reference applications, and developer tooling.

As the primary technical authority within the Application Lab, you will ensure solutions align with the broader software-defined vehicle platform architecture and meet customer expectations, delivery commitments, and quality requirements.

Working closely with Product Managers, Capability Owners, System Architects, and engineering teams across multiple labs, you will combine hands-on engineering with architectural guidance and technical leadership.

Your Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and guide architectural decisions for application-layer software.
• Support engineers in delivering robust, scalable, production-ready solutions.
• Ensure alignment between application software and the wider platform architecture.
• Define and maintain engineering standards, code quality practices, and review processes.
• Define unit-testing strategies and software quality processes.
• Translate business priorities and customer needs into actionable technical plans.
• Coordinate technical dependencies and delivery across teams and labs.

Required experience

• Experience as a Tech Lead, Principal Engineer, Software Architect, or in a comparable senior technical role.
• Experience with connectivity, ADAS, perception, infotainment, or developer platform technologies.
• Extensive hands-on embedded software development experience in C++, within automotive or another safety-critical or quality-critical industry.
• Strong hands-on experience with Linux-based embedded systems.
• Solid understanding of software architecture and application-layer design for embedded systems.
• Experience defining and enforcing engineering standards, code quality practices, and review processes.
• Experience configuring and integrating AUTOSAR Classic and/or Adaptive.
• Experience defining unit-testing strategies and software quality processes.

Additional experience we value

• Software-defined vehicle platforms.
• Working directly with automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, or software platform vendors.
• Commercial product development, business cases, and customer-facing technical engagements.

You are comfortable influencing without direct people-management authority and collaborating across engineering, architecture, and product functions.
