Applied Engineer

We’re looking for an Applied Engineer!

We’re looking for an Applied Engineer with strong hands-on experience, autonomy, and a results-driven mindset to join a high-growth engineering team.

This role combines software engineering, problem-solving, and direct customer interaction, with the opportunity to own projects end-to-end and turn real customer needs into scalable solutions.

What will you do?

• Own customer projects end-to-end: discovery, design, development, deployment, and verification.
• Build migration and integration pipelines using Temporal.
• Design idempotent, resumable, and auditable workflows.
• Work with customer accounting data and model it in PostgreSQL.
• Reconcile data across different systems.
• Build internal tools that turn one-off solutions into scalable systems.
• Identify patterns in customer needs and feed them back into the core product.
• Productize solutions when they become permanent requirements.
• Minimize the time between a customer need and a solution being shipped to production.

Technical requirements

Must have:

• 5+ years developing and shipping production software end-to-end.
• Direct experience working with customers/users.
• Django + Django REST Framework (DRF).
• Advanced PostgreSQL experience beyond standard ORM usage.
• Ability to interpret query plans.
• Experience performing migrations against real production data.
• Next.js.
• React + TypeScript.
• Experience with durable workflow orchestration systems.
• Temporal is preferred; experience with Celery or equivalent technologies is also considered.
• Experience integrating with third-party APIs, webhooks, and handling rate limits.
• Experience reconciling data across different systems.

Nice to have:

• Previous experience as a Forward-Deployed, Applied, or Special Projects Engineer.
• Knowledge of Accounting, ERP, or Fintech.
• Understanding of double-entry accounting, chart of accounts, financial close, AP/AR, or revenue recognition.
• Good judgment when deciding whether to build a script or a complete system.

Pay: £150,000.00-£280,000.00 per year
