Applied Scientist

For our client, we are seeking a Applied Scientist to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will support financial strategy, forecasting, and performance management initiatives that strengthen business visibility and decision-making. You will partner with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to improve planning processes, financial discipline, controls, and resource allocation. The position offers the opportunity to influence enterprise performance and scalable financial operations within a regulated financial services environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $141,500 – $196,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Conduct machine learning research to enhance underwriting models
• Design and implement rigorous model enhancements
• Evaluate model performance and evaluate downstream impacts
• Collaborate with engineering teams for technical support and deployment
• Translate complex research findings into actionable recommendations

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or related field
• 0-2 years of experience in machine learning or quantitative research
• Proficient in developing models using Python
• Strong foundation in probability, statistics, and machine learning methods
• Experience with experimental design for assessing model accuracy
