Applied Voice: Soprano

• Recruit and retain high-quality applied voice students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Pursue scholarly and creative activity that meets CMU standards for tenure and promotion.
• Teach applied voice, and as needed, courses in vocal techniques, repertoire, opera, and other courses relevant to qualifications.
• Serve on departmental, collegiate, and professional committees.
• Additional duties may be assigned in accordance with areas of expertise and in consultation with the Director of the School of Music.

Required Qualifications

• Doctorate in vocal performance (ABD candidates may be considered, provided the degree is conferred by the start date of the appointment), or commensurate professional experience.
• Outstanding performance skills.
• Successful college teaching experience.
• Ability to teach applied voice, diction, pedagogy, song literature, opera, and/or voice class, or general education survey courses of varying genres.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

About the Department

The School of Music is located in a state-of-the-art 119,000 square foot facility with a 500-seat concert hall housing a 61-rank Casavant organ, a 100-seat recital hall, recording facilities, and 79 practice rooms. The School of Music has 38 full- and part-time faculty and an enrollment of over 300 undergraduate and graduate majors and minors.
