What they need
Company Overview
Naked Solar Ltd is an innovative, B Corp Certified renewable energy company dedicated to making solar power accessible and sustainable for all. Since 2010, we have been leading the way in designing and installing high-quality solar panel systems across residential and commercial properties in the Southwest, with a strong commitment to environmental and social responsibility.
Job Summary
We're looking for an organised, detail-focused Administrative Assistant to take ownership of our Distribution Network Operator (DNO) applications and work closely with our design team. Every system we install needs the right grid connection approval before it can go ahead, so this role is central to keeping projects moving from sale to installation. You'll be the link between our designers, our customers, and the DNO, making sure applications are accurate, submitted on time, and tracked through to approval.
No prior solar experience is required. We'll give you full training on the technical side. What matters most is accuracy, organisation, and the confidence to chase things until they're done.
We're happy to offer this role as a Business Administrator Level 3 apprenticeship for the right person. You'd be employed by Naked Solar from day one, earning while you learn, with study time built into your working week and support from our training provider. The apprenticeship typically takes 14 months plus a 3 month EPA period and leads to a nationally recognised qualification. It's a great fit if you're starting out in your career or looking to move into a new sector, and it gives you real, practical experience in one of the UK's fastest-growing industries.
Duties
- DNO applications
- Prepare and submit G99 pre-applications and G98 notifications to National Grid Electricity Distribution, using the relevant online portals.
- Gather the information each application needs from customers and the design team, such as MPAN, supply and cut-out details, fuse ratings, photographs, system specifications and single-line diagrams.
- Track every application from submission to approval, chasing the DNO where needed and keeping clear records of status and correspondence.
- Handle DNO queries and requests for further information promptly, bringing in the design team where technical input is needed.
- Communicate outcomes such as approvals, export limits or conditions to the design, sales and scheduling teams so projects can be planned accordingly.
Design team support
- Keep project records and our CRM up to date with design information, application references and approval status.
- Prepare and organise design documentation, datasheets and customer packs.
- Help coordinate information between design, sales, operations and customers so nothing falls through the gaps.
- Support compliance paperwork, including MCS documentation, as required.
General administration
- Respond to customer and internal queries by phone and email in a friendly, professional way.
- Maintain accurate filing systems and trackers, and help spot and improve inefficient processes.
- Provide wider admin support to the team when needed.
Skills
- Razor-sharp attention to detail and accuracy with data entry.
- Some experience of administrative work, whether in a job, placement or volunteering, or a strong interest in building a career in business administration.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade 4/C or above, or a willingness to work towards them as part of the apprenticeship.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a high volume of applications at different stages.
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and learning new software and portals.
- A proactive attitude, willing to follow up and see tasks through.
- Confident working in a busy, open-plan office environment.
- Eligible to be enrolled in an Apprenticeship program.
