What they need
About the businessWe're recruiting on behalf of a well-established Christchurch construction company with an excellent reputation for quality workmanship, strong client relationships and a supportive team culture.
With a healthy pipeline of work and continued business growth, they're looking to invest in the next generation of tradespeople by welcoming an Apprentice Carpenter to the team.
Unlike businesses that focus on one type of construction, you'll gain experience across commercial interior fit-outs, medical facilities, renovations, landscaping and selected residential projects, giving you a broad range of practical skills as you progress through your apprenticeship.
About the roleThis is an exciting opportunity to build a long-term career in the construction industry while learning from experienced, qualified carpenters who genuinely enjoy mentoring others.
You'll work alongside the team on a variety of projects, developing your practical skills while building the habits and experience needed to become a confident, qualified tradesperson.
If you're reliable, enjoy working with your hands and are keen to learn, this role offers an excellent foundation for your future career.
Key responsibilities
- Assist qualified carpenters across a range of construction projects
- Learn practical carpentry skills on site
- Develop confidence reading plans and using tools
- Maintain a safe, organised work environment
- Communicate professionally with clients and colleagues
- Take direction, ask questions and continually develop your skills
- Contribute positively to the team and company culture
About youYou don't need years of experience, but you do need the right attitude.
You're someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in doing things properly and wants to build a long-term career in the construction industry. You're reliable, willing to learn and understand the importance of presenting yourself professionally on every job site.
You will likely have:
- A genuine interest in becoming a qualified carpenter
- A strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Good communication skills
- Reliable transport and a current driver's licence
- Previous labouring, construction or trade experience (advantageous)
- A pre-trade carpentry qualification (beneficial but not essential)
- A willingness to learn from experienced tradespeople
What's on offer
- Learn from experienced qualified carpenters in a supportive environment
- Gain exposure to a wide variety of commercial and residential projects
- Opportunity to complete a recognised carpentry apprenticeship
- Stable, growing business with a strong pipeline of work
- Regular overtime available, paid at time and a half after 40 hours
- Great team culture where people enjoy coming to work
- Long-term career opportunities as your skills develop
- Be part of a business that genuinely invests in its people
