This is an exciting opportunity to learn from a passionate team dedicated to quality local produce, seasonal cooking, and doing good food properly. As a family-owned venue, we're known for delivering great food and creating genuine hospitality experiences for both locals and visitors.
In addition to our busy kitchen, we operate an in-house bakery, giving the successful applicant the unique opportunity to develop skills across both cookery and baking. You'll gain hands-on experience working with sourdough, pastries, cakes, and other baked goods alongside experienced chefs and bakers.
Whether you're just starting your hospitality journey or looking to begin a formal apprenticeship, we're seeking someone with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and genuine passion for food.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assisting chefs with food preparation and service
- Learning a variety of cooking techniques across prep, grill, fryer, and pass sections
- Gaining experience in our in-house bakery, including sourdough production, pastry preparation, and cake baking
- Learning the fundamentals of bread fermentation, baking techniques, and pastry production
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of kitchen and bakery workstations
- Following food safety, hygiene, and workplace procedures
- Assisting with stock rotation and kitchen operations
- Working as part of a fast-paced team during busy service periods
- Learning about seasonal produce, menu development, and modern hospitality practices
What We're Looking For
- Passion for food, baking, and hospitality
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to take direction and follow procedures
- Availability to work weekends and public holidays
- Previous kitchen or bakery experience is advantageous but not essential
- Minimum age of 15 years to meet apprenticeship eligibility requirements
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency required
- Completion of Year 10 (or equivalent) required
What We Offer
- Excellent work-life balance – no evening shifts or split shifts
- Formal apprenticeship opportunity with ongoing training and development
- Exposure to both commercial cookery and artisan baking
- Hands-on experience in a busy and respected hospitality venue
- Mentoring from experienced chefs, bakers, and hospitality professionals
- Opportunity to work with high-quality local and seasonal produce
- Supportive, inclusive, and passionate team environment
- Clear pathway for career growth within the hospitality industry
