APPRENTICE: Civil Engineer

Position: Civil Engineering Apprentice Department: Drafting /Structural Detailing Location: Canam Manila Inc., Mandaluyong City Program Duration: 6 Months Employment Status: Apprentice / Training Program Target Candidates: Fresh graduates of Civil Engineering Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
• No previous professional experience required.
• Willing to undergo a six-month structured training program.
• Willing to learn structural steel detailing and engineering drafting.
• Basic knowledge of engineering drawings and structural concepts.
• Computer literate and willing to learn technical software.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Training

• Learn the fundamentals of structural steel detailing and fabrication.
• Develop an understanding of structural and architectural drawings.
• Interpret plans, specifications, details, and project requirements.
• Learn steel members, connections, assemblies, and fabrication requirements.
• Understand basic construction and structural engineering principles applicable to steel detailing.
• Develop knowledge of Canadian and North American structural steel detailing practices.

Software Training

• Learn and develop proficiency in relevant drafting and detailing software, including:

  • Tekla Structures
  • SDS/2
  • Bluebeam and related project tools

• Create and modify 3D structural models based on project drawings and specifications.

• Generate drawings, details, reports, and other project deliverables.

• Apply company standards and established modeling/drafting procedures.

Professional Development

• Participate actively in coaching, mentoring, and training sessions.
• Accept and apply feedback from trainers and supervisors.
• Demonstrate continuous improvement throughout the apprenticeship.

The primary objective of the Apprenticeship Program is to develop qualified Civil Engineering graduates into competent structural steel detailers who can contribute effectively to Canam Manila's project operations and build a long-term career within the organization.
