What will your typical day look like?

As an Apprentice Electrician, you will:

• Install electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, and equipment according to project specifications and electrical codes.
• Collaborate with project teams to plan and execute electrical installations.
• Diagnose and repair electrical problems, including circuits, switches, outlets, and lighting.
• Perform routine maintenance to ensure the continued operation of electrical systems.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines, electrical codes, and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and promote a safe work culture.
• May be required to select, order, and transport electrical materials, tools, and equipment for projects.
• Maintain inventory and ensure tools and equipment are in good working condition.
• Conduct inspections of electrical systems to identify potential issues and perform preventive maintenance.
• Make recommendations for system improvements and upgrades as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service reports and material usage.
• Complete project-related paperwork and reports in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with other team members, including contractors, project managers, and other skilled tradespeople.

The ideal candidate possesses:

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent
• Meet criteria to apply for an apprenticeship in Ontario, or are already enrolled in the Ontario Apprenticeship program
• Completion of college program/electrical training preferred
• Must possess a valid Driver's License
• Ability to work under the supervision of certified electricians, as part of a team and independently in a busy environment
• Experience with routine electrical maintenance operations an asset
• Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Able to work well under pressure
• Strong attention to detail
• Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
