Apprentice Heavy Diesel Mechanic

VPL Transport are a family owned and run business based in Midvale, supplying Western Australian industries with road transport services. We pride ourselves on being dedicated and reliable, having the experience and knowledge to provide workable solutions.

As part of our continued growth, we are currently seeking an Apprentice Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Midvale. This role will require the person to work alongside the maintenance team on our fleet of heavy vehicles and trailing equipment.

We are open to applicants at all stages of their apprenticeship, including new apprentices and apprentices looking to transfer from another employer.

About the role

Working as part of our workshop team, you will assist with the servicing, maintenance and repair of our fleet of heavy vehicles and trailing equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Assisting with scheduled servicing and maintenance of prime movers, trucks and trailers.
• Assisting with diagnosing faults and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
• Carrying out repairs and maintenance under the guidance of experienced mechanics.
• Learning to identify and rectify faults on heavy vehicles and equipment.
• Completing service and repair records.
• Keeping the workshop clean, organised and safe.
• Working both independently and as part of a small team.
• Developing your mechanical skills and knowledge through practical, hands on experience.

What you will need

• Genuinely interested in becoming a Heavy Diesel Mechanic.
• Reliable, punctual and willing to learn.
• Hands on and mechanically minded.
• Excellent people and communication skills .
• Willing to undertake a pre employment medical and drug/alcohol screening.
• Friendly and able to work well as part of a small team.
• Able to follow instructions and work safely.
