Apprentice Maintenance Fitter

Job Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Maintenance Fitter to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn a skilled trade while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a busy manufacturing environment. As part of our maintenance team, you will learn how to maintain, repair and improve the machinery and equipment that keeps our production operation running.

You will complete the 4-year Mechanical Automation & Maintenance Fitting (MAMF) apprenticeship, combining practical, hands-on experience at Abcon with off-the-job training through the SOLAS apprenticeship programme.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

· Carrying out regular preventative maintenance checks on production equipment.

· Assisting with the installation, servicing and maintenance of production machinery.

· Learning how to identify and resolve mechanical faults and breakdowns.

· Carrying out breakdown repairs and supporting the team in getting machinery back up and running safely.

· Developing an understanding of mechanical systems, automation and manufacturing equipment.

· Ensuring machinery and equipment is maintained to a safe and reliable standard.

· Working with the Maintenance Manager and Production team to plan maintenance and minimise downtime.

· Reading and interpreting engineering and manufacturing drawings.

· Liaising with the Maintenance Manager regarding maintenance issues and Health & Safety concerns.

· Collecting materials and parts from local suppliers when required.

Taking part in a wide range of practical tasks as you develop your skills and experience.

· Successful applicants will be registered with SOLAS and begin a 7-phase apprenticeship

· No previous engineering experience is required.

· We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in engineering, a practical approach and a willingness to learn.

· An interest in engineering, machinery, maintenance and automation.

· A practical and hands-on approach.
