Hours: Term time – 7:30am–9:00am and 3:00pm–5:30/6:00pm
Additional hours: Overtime may be available during school holidays

Job Overview

Kidspace Childcare is looking for enthusiastic and caring Play Worker Apprentices to join our wrap-around childcare teams.

We currently have two apprenticeship vacancies, based in Hinckley and Sapcote.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who would like to start or develop a career working with children while gaining a recognised childcare qualification alongside practical, hands-on experience.

You do not need to already be qualified. We are looking for someone who is reliable, enthusiastic, willing to learn and genuinely enjoys working with children.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Play Worker Apprentice, you will work alongside our experienced team to:

• Support children during our breakfast and after-school club sessions.
• Help provide a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment.
• Engage children in games, crafts, creative activities, outdoor play and group activities.
• Help plan and prepare age-appropriate activities based on children's interests.
• Encourage children's confidence, independence, friendships and social skills.
• Support positive behaviour and help children learn to resolve disagreements appropriately.
• Support children with additional needs and help ensure every child feels included.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers and other members of the Kidspace team.
• Help prepare and serve snacks and refreshments.
• Keep play areas clean, organised and safe.
• Follow Kidspace safeguarding, health and safety and childcare procedures.
• Complete your apprenticeship training and work towards your qualification with support from your training provider and the Kidspace team.

Previous childcare experience is not essential, as training and support will be provided.

Working Hours

The role is based around our before and after-school clubs during term time.

Morning: 7:30am–9:00am
Afternoon: 3:00pm–5:30pm/6:00pm

There may also be opportunities for additional paid hours during school holidays within our holiday clubs.
