Job Title: Apprentice Plumber

Location: St Louis, MO 63110

Duration: 6-12+ Months

Hours: Mon-Fri (7am to 3:30pm)

Summary:

The Water Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and supporting the City’s water treatment and distribution systems, including water mains, pipes, basins, and related equipment. Duties include installing and repairing water lines, excavating trenches, operating trucks, tractors, pumps, jackhammers, and other construction equipment, and performing concrete, asphalt, and grounds maintenance.

Responsibilities:

• Install and repair water mains.
• Hand dig trenches for various water, chemical, electrical, storm and sewer lines in and around various obstacles and utility crossings.
• Backfill, tamp, and level various construction areas prior to seeding and strawing.
• Help erect, repair, and maintain chain link fencing and barriers around plant perimeter and reservoirs.
• Clean out various sewers, manholes, and street drains along plant grounds.
• Operate motor vehicles including forklift, pickup, and dump trucks.

Minimum Qualification

• Requires the ability to operate and perform complex rapid adjustment on equipment, machinery
• and tools such as hand and power tools, threading/tapping equipment, wrenches, forklift, jack hammer, loader, backhoe and trucks and/or related materials used in performing essential functions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in water or sewer line construction.
• Skill in the use of engine driven pumps, power saws, jack hammers, air compressors
• and related construction equipment.
