Apprentice Plumber - Defence

The Role

MI Plumbers is seeking to engage a motivated and reliable Apprentice Plumber to join our close-knit Defence Team operating from Osborne Park, WA.

Reporting to the Defence Operations Manager, this role will see you working alongside experienced tradespeople across various Defence Bases throughout Metropolitan and Regional Perth, assisting with planned & reactive maintenance activities as well as project based works on a broad range of hydraulic systems, facilities and infrastructure.

This opportunity would suit someone looking to start a long-term career in plumbing whilst gaining exposure to unique Defence environments. We are particularly interested in applicants who have prior experience in property maintenance, carpentry, trade assistant roles or other building and construction trades and are looking to formalise their skills through an apprenticeship.

This position is a full-time permanent role working Monday to Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm.

Key Duties

• Assist qualified plumbers with the installation, maintenance and repair of hydraulic systems across Defence sites.
• Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance works.
• Assist with fault finding, inspections and repairs.
• Maintain a safe and compliant work environment at all times.
• Assist with the maintenance of tools, equipment and materials.
• Support broader facilities maintenance activities where required.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Current WA Driver's Licence.
• Current White Card.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Australian Citizen.
• Ability to pass a Police Clearance.
• Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance.

Highly Regarded

• Previous property maintenance experience.
• Carpentry experience.
• Trade assistant experience.
• Building and construction experience.
• General handyman or maintenance background.
• Experience working on commercial, industrial or government facilities.
• Any previous exposure to plumbing, drainage or civil works.
• Current Baseline Defence Clearance.
