Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Apprentice Toolmaker to join our manufacturing team. This entry-level position offers a fantastic opportunity to develop specialized skills in precision machining, tooling, and fabrication processes. As an Apprentice Toolmaker, you will work closely with experienced technicians to learn the fundamentals of tool creation, maintenance, and repair, contributing to the production of high-quality tools that support manufacturing operations. This paid apprenticeship is designed to provide hands-on experience in a dynamic environment, fostering your growth into a skilled toolmaker.

Duties

• Assist in the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of CNC machining equipment including CNC lathe and milling machines
• Learn to interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings using GD&T standards for precise fabrication
• Support manual machining tasks using hand tools, grinders, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement instruments
• Participate in the fabrication and assembly of tooling components such as dies and fixtures for stamping presses and production machining
• Gain experience in CNC programming and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software to develop tool paths for machining operations
• Help with maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) of shop equipment to ensure optimal performance
• Contribute to quality control by measuring parts with precision instruments and ensuring adherence to specifications

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or coursework in manufacturing or mechanical trades is a plus
• Basic understanding of shop math and mechanical blueprint interpretation
• Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD is preferred
• Hands-on experience with manual machining tools including lathes, grinders, milling machines, and hand tools
• Knowledge of CNC machining processes including CNC programming and setup is advantageous
• Strong mechanical aptitude with an interest in metal machining and tooling processes
• Excellent attention to detail for precision measurement using calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools
• Willingness to learn new skills through on-the-job training in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
