About Averda

Averda is a leading global provider of integrated waste management and environmental services, delivering innovative, sustainable solutions to some of the world’s most complex waste challenges. Operating across multiple markets, we are committed to transforming waste into value while safeguarding the environment, supporting our communities, and driving operational excellence.

Overview

This role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing, allocation, reconciliation and control of customer accounts. The role posts approved customer billing, allocates customer receipts within 24 hours, maintains reliable ageing and dispute records, prepares customer and ledger reconciliations, and ensures that every receivable is supported by complete, audit-ready evidence. The role operates within the AR control framework, ensuring accurate preparation of AR activities with independent review by the AR Lead.

Key Responsibilities

  • Invoice Processing and Control: Post approved invoices and credit notes on the same day, validating the customer, contract, quantity, rate, VAT, currency, due date, approval, and supporting delivery evidence, while ensuring accurate posting to the AR sub-ledger and General Ledger.
  • Cash Allocation: Allocate customer receipts to the correct account and invoices within 24 hours based on remittance evidence, complete the daily cash proof, and maintain and investigate all unallocated or unidentified cash.
  • Ageing and Collections Support: Prepare weekly ageing reports by market, entity, and currency, reconcile balances to the GL, identify overdue, disputed, credit, and unusual balances, and provide statements and accurate information to market teams to support collection activities.
  • Reconciliations: Complete material customer reconciliations by WD5 and supporting AR sub-ledger to GL reconciliation schedules by WD7, ensuring all reconciling items have a clear explanation, supporting evidence, assigned owner, required action, and target resolution date.
  • Disputes and Credit Adjustments: Record disputes, deductions, and short payments within 24 hours, maintain appropriate reason codes and supporting documentation, and process credit notes or manual AR journals only after the required review and Delegation of Authority approval.
  • Month-End Close and Audit Support: Support month-end activities including cut-off, subsequent-receipt testing, ageing validation, investigation of old balances, ECL support, and preparation of the month-end evidence file, with clear preparer, reviewer, and approver signoffs.
  • Controls and Escalation: Ensure compliance with AR controls and segregation of duties, promptly escalate unresolved control breaches or exceptions, and maintain complete supporting records to enable independent review and re-performance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in accounts receivable, credit control, shared services or financial accounting, preferably in a multi-entity or multi-country environment.
  • Practical knowledge of customer invoicing, cash allocation, ageing, reconciliations, dispute management, month-end close and audit support.
  • Good understanding of accounting controls, segregation of duties, VAT treatment on customer transactions and IFRS 9 expected credit loss support.
  • Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of an ERP receivables module; experience with Oracle or SAP is advantageous.
  • Fluent English. Arabic and/or French is advantageous for regional customer and market interaction.

Key Competencies

  • High accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong reconciliation and analytical capability
  • Disciplined evidence management
  • Ownership and timely escalation
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Ability to manage recurring daily, weekly and month-end deadlines
  • Customer-service mindset with firm control discipline
  • Collaborative working across markets and central finance.

If you think you have what it takes to make the world a cleaner place, if you can see value where others see waste and if you aren’t afraid of a challenge, why not start your journey with us today.
