Arabic Teaching Intern

Roots Academy (Arabic: جذور/Judur) is a school specializing in teaching Arabic as a foreign language. With our program, we are preparing students to use Arabic as a tool to accomplish their goals.

We provide accessible Arabic language and culture education to all people of the world. We bridge the gaps between public and private institutions, and generate solutions to educational inequality by creating opportunities through language and intercultural competency training.

Roots is looking for an Arabic intern to work with our team under the supervision of the director to develop and create Arabic material and research.

MISSION / RESPONSABILITIES

▪ Asses and evaluate the material used in teaching Arabic as a foreign language

▪ Collaborate with the director to work and realize the laboratory projects

▪ Prepare teaching materials for Darija, MSA, other dialects and Tamazight classes

▪ Work on developing the method of teaching multidialectal language

▪ Conduct research and write article regarding teaching Arabic as a foreign language

▪ Participate in creating media Arabic content

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Education, Arabic Language, Applied Linguistics, English or French (Other specialties would be accepted with proof of interest in Arabic language).

PROFILE REQUIRED

• Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills, very good analytical skills and ability to identify and set priorities in a professional manner, while being attentive to detail.

• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines. Ability to deliver clear and complete reports.

• Ability to be well organized, to be rigorous and to deliver quality work in a timely manner

• Interpersonal skills (availability, listening, patience, positivity), dynamic person and force of proposal

• Teamwork, adaptability, synthesis analytical skills

• Arabic and English written and spoken fluently, French is a plus

TRANSVERSAL SKILLS

• Ability to write well-organised research

• Proven teaching skills

• Organisational skills for setting up training sessions

• Ability to conduct working meetings

• Ability to write reports, information materials and correspondence.

• Good knowledge of computer tools, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint

• Confirmed ability to adapt and anticipate, open-mindedness and initiative.
