What they need
Overview Handshake is seeking experienced Plan Examiners, Technical Architects, Architect Technicians, and Architectural Technicians to support AI research through flexible, hourly contract work. This is not a traditional architecture, design, or permitting role. Instead, you'll apply your real-world expertise reviewing construction documents, interpreting building plans, and evaluating technical drawings to help improve AI systems.
You'll review AI-generated content, assess it for technical accuracy and relevance, and provide feedback that helps AI better understand architectural documentation, building codes, construction drawings, technical communication, and industry best practices.
This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity that can be done alongside your primary employment.
Details
- This project involves using your professional experience reviewing architectural plans, construction documents, technical drawings, and building code requirements to create expert-level training data and evaluate AI-generated responses for accuracy and relevance. No prior AI experience is required.
- Fully remote with a flexible, asynchronous schedule and no minimum hour requirement; most contributors work approximately 5–20 hours per week when participating in an active project.
- Placement depends on current project needs, with opportunities to be considered for future projects as they become available.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience as a Plan Examiner, Technical Architect, Architect Technician, Architectural Technician, or in a closely related architectural or construction documentation role
- Experience reviewing architectural plans, construction drawings, permit documents, or technical building documentation
- Strong understanding of architectural standards, building codes, and technical documentation
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify technical inaccuracies and inconsistencies
- Ability to work independently while following detailed written guidelines
- Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and a commitment to handling sensitive or proprietary information with discretion
- No prior AI experience required
