Job Overview

MWB Architecture is seeking a creative, technically capable ARB-registered Architect to join our growing, design-led practice in Mawdesley. We are a small design-focused practice, we specialise in high-quality residential projects ranging from extensions and refurbishments to substantial new-build homes and developments. Working closely with the directors, you will be involved throughout the entire architectural process, from concept design and planning through to technical design, construction and completion.

This is a hands-on role within a close-knit team, offering genuine project ownership, client contact and involvement on site.

The Role

• Lead and develop projects from concept to completion.
• Produce planning, technical and construction information.
• Prepare planning applications, presentations, 3D models and visualisations.
• Coordinate consultants and multidisciplinary teams.
• Liaise closely with clients, contractors, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Attend design, coordination and site meetings.
• Monitor construction progress and resolve design and technical issues.
• Provide input on materials, detailing, finishes and buildability.
• Manage project programmes, information, deadlines and deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, CDM and statutory requirements.
• Balance design quality, functionality, buildability and cost.

About You

You will be a UK-qualified Architect with experience in a UK architectural practice and ideally will have:

• Residential project experience across a range of scales and stages.
• Strong design, visual communication and presentation skills.
• Good technical knowledge and construction detailing experience.
• Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, CDM Regulations 2015 and design risk management.
• Experience coordinating consultants and project teams.
• Knowledge of construction methods, materials and buildability.
• Excellent communication, organisation and project management skills.
• A proactive approach and ability to work independently within a collaborative team.
• Enthusiasm for site involvement and seeing projects realised through construction.

Construction experience is highly valued. We are particularly interested in architects who enjoy seeing their designs realised and who are comfortable engaging with the practical challenges that arise during construction.

Software

Essential:

• AutoCAD
• SketchUp
• Enscape
• Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop & InDesign)

Revit experience is advantageous but not essential. We are more interested in architectural ability, design judgement, technical understanding and problem-solving than a long list of software packages.

Qualification: ARB Registered
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Location: Mawdesley, L40 2QU
Working Arrangement: Office-based with flexi-time
Start Date: Within 4 weeks
