What they need
PROJECT ARCHITECT / PROJECT MANAGER
Coppa Montalbano Architects (CMA) is a full-service architectural, planning, and interior design firm located in Totowa, New Jersey, with roots dating back to 1956. We work on a diverse range of public and private projects throughout Northern New Jersey, including institutional, commercial, residential, civic, and adaptive reuse projects.
At CMA, we believe great architecture is built on strong design, collaboration, personal client service, and a commitment to doing things right. Our diverse project portfolio provides our team with the opportunity to work on a variety of building types and project phases, while taking on meaningful responsibility and continuing to grow professionally.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a motivated and talented Project Architect / Project Manager to join our team and play an important role in the continued growth of CMA.
This is an opportunity for an architect who is ready to take the next step in their career — someone who enjoys design, understands the technical side of architecture, and has the leadership skills and ambition to take ownership of projects and help lead a team.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter and team leader who enjoys working directly with clients, consultants, contractors, and staff. We are looking for someone who wants to build more than just a project portfolio — someone interested in growing with an established firm and taking on increasing responsibility over time.
Our projects range from renovations and additions to new construction, including schools, corporate interiors, public and justice facilities, multifamily and single-family residential, and other institutional and commercial projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS
- Approximately 3–5+ years of professional architectural experience, with exposure to multiple project phases from conceptual design through construction administration.
- Demonstrated ability or desire to take ownership of projects and lead project teams.
- Experience preparing and coordinating construction documents and technical details for both renovation and new construction.
- Ability to manage drawing production and coordinate the work of project team members.
- Experience coordinating MEP/FP and other outside consultants and understanding their integration with the architectural design.
- Working knowledge of the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code (NJUCC) and applicable building codes and regulations.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit and SketchUp is a plus.
- Ability to develop design concepts and prepare clear, professional graphic presentations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable communicating directly with clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies, including DCA and DOH.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating with and providing direction to other team members.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture preferred.
- NJ Registered Architect license preferred, or actively working toward licensure.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Full-time, in-office position in Totowa, New Jersey.
JOIN CMA
We are looking for more than someone who can produce drawings. We are looking for an ambitious, personable, creative, and organized architect with a passion for architecture and the desire to lead.
CMA offers a hands-on, collaborative environment where principals work directly with staff, clients, consultants, and contractors. Our diverse project portfolio provides the opportunity to gain experience across a variety of building types while taking on increasing responsibility.
For the right person, this can be more than a project management position. It is an opportunity to grow with an established firm, develop as a leader, build strong client relationships, mentor others, and ultimately play an important role in the future direction and growth of CMA.
If you are looking for a place where your ideas, initiative, and leadership can make a difference, we would like to hear from you.
If you meet requirements above, please submit resume, sample work & salary requirements to [email protected] .
